Many Canadian consumers have satisfied their outlet hunger by shopping while vacationing in the United States, or even making special shopping trips to border cities.
But the new Vaughan Mills mall, set to open Thursday, promises to help change that, with more than half of its 200 stores classified as outlets by the mall’s developers.
About 25 per cent of the stores will be value-priced retailers such as Winners, Burlington Coat Factory, H&M, Payless ShoeSource, and a surprising new addition to the Canadian retail scene,christian louboutin shoes, HBC Designer Depot, which is getting set to compete with Winners in the discount brand-name fashion category.
Among the long list of outlet stores to open at Vaughan Mills are The Children’s Place, UpCountry Home and Garden, Tommy Hilfiger, Buffalo, Guess, La Vie En Rose, Nine West Shoes, Timberland, Tristan & America, Aldo, BCBG Max Azria, Esprit, Femme de Carriere, Fila,Christian Louboutin Alta Nodo Platform d’Orsay, Mexx, Benetton, Ecco, Danier and Nike. Some will call themselves outlet stores in their signage; others will not. But then, signage or no signage, the meaning of the phrase "outlet store" has been in flux over the years.
In some ways, it’s an old concept. In the mid- to late 1800s, apparel and christian louboutin sale mills in the eastern United States began selling goods that had been damaged in the manufacturing process to employees. The first "factory-direct" store was opened to the public by Anderson-Little, a maker of men’s clothing, in 1936. Other manufacturers followed, locating their stores in or near their factories, which tended to be in remote areas.

OPEN TO BID: Stuart Weitzman is off and running with his third annual shoe auction benefiting breast cancer research. This time around, the designer has tapped sports stars to do the shoe decorating honors. Among them are Serena Williams (pictured), Jerry Rice, Gary Sheffield and Tara Lipinski. Each star’s shoe (and an autographed photo) will be up for auction at Stuartweitzman.com throughout October. Retailers got their first glimpse of Lauren’s new high-end women’s and men’s lines at the Regency Hotel here last week, where FN previewed the 100-style high-end women’s collection,cheap Christian Louboutin Sandals, as well as the 62-style men’s line.
The women’s line features looks ranging from elegant boots embellished with louboutin shoes’s signature hardware to d’Orsay pumps with rhinestone detailing and crocodile trim to snakeskin sandals. Price points start at $125 to $295 for athletic casuals, with the bulk of the line priced between $350 and $600. The men’s collection, which includes the Purple Label and Polo Ralph Lauren lines, consists of boots, moccasins, loafers and laceups, as well as athletic-inspired looks. Price points range from $125 to $895 for the Polo Ralph louboutin line. In the Purple Label segment, christian louboutin shoes range from $595 to $895 and boots from $1,200 to $1,500.
In a conference call last week, Ralph Lauren President and COO Roger Farah said both the men’s and women’s collections already had strong interest from key retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Nordstrom.
